9/12 Taxpayer Protest in Brunswick
Taxpayers' Protest in Brunswick
Attention tea partiers and other freedom loving patriots across Glynn County!
If you can’t make it to DC for the historic march on 9/12, don’t despair. Many of your compatriots will be there in spirit, but will be right here in Brunswick on the sidewalk in front of the Federal Courthouse from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in person.
If you are fed up with big government, higher taxes and out-of-control spending, stand up and be counted! Yes, the passion and frustration exhibited at town halls across the nation has made a strong impression on lawmakers, but politicians only care about numbers. Saturday, September 12th could turn out to be a day of peaceful revolution, the likes of which our country has never seen and will never forget. Don’t miss it!
Jackie Hardy, a coordinator for the Golden Isles Tea Party, will be in charge of the one-hour protest. Jackie will be in contact with the Glynn County contingency in DC during the protest with updates on the DC event. Bring your own homemade sign or just show up and let your voice be heard!
Contact the Golden Isles Tea Party at goldenislesteparty@gmail.com for more information. Also, don’t miss Glenn Beck’s coverage on Fox News from 1-3. Fox News will be covering the march in DC as well as tea parties that will be happening all over the country.
If you would like even more Tea Partying, please join Blackshear,GA for a Tea Party Rally from 5 - 6:30 that will include speakers and musicians. They will be located in front of their courthouse.

I know it's long, but please read this entire post - there is a lot of information here that you need to know before booking your trip.
You will need to register with the hotel directly and then register with us for your bus fare (read below for full information). Please be advised that you if book your rooms in a hotel other than the Renaissance (on 9th St),the Marriott Wardman Park, or the Marriott Crystal Gateway, you may have to take the Metro to your hotel from Union Square Station as that is where the bus is parking. Those are the only 3 hotels on our approved itinerary from the bus company at this time, and we are trying to make the trip as easy as possible for all involved.
If you prefer to fly, check out this link http://guest.cvent.com/EVENTS/Info/Custom.aspx?cid=20&e=5ba072d3-891d-494d-9cfa-3b2c73399c53 for more info on how to save an additional 10% off of the lowest fares for AirTran.
Group Bus Trip Info
Before you book your hotel, please register for your bus trip here: Bus Registration Please do this before booking your hotel to be sure that you have a seat on the bus. The bus fare is $175 per person. The form will not accept any more registrations once the bus is full.
After you have a seat on the bus, then make your hotel reservation. You need to book the hotel for the nights of 9/11 and 9/12. Please book a hotel that is close to a metro station so that you are able to get to your hotel from Union Square. Due to the large number of different hotels that could be booked, this seems the only way to get people to their hotels after the original 3. There may still be rooms available at one of those 3 - just not at the reduced prices. The three hotels the bus will stop at are the Renaissance Washington, the Marriott Wardman-Park, and the Marriott Crystal Gateway. Again, you can make a resv at another hotel, but you will need to plan on using the metro system to get to your hotel.
After you have a hotel room, please send your check for $175 per person to the Golden Isles TEA Party Patriots, PO Box 20412, St. Simons Is., GA 31522.
We will e-mail exact parking spot information after we have received your fare as we do not want to publicize this information.
For traveling around while in DC, we will be making use of the Metro System. Once the buses are parked at Union Square, they will not be going out again until it is time to pick-up the passengers to leave DC on Sunday at 10am.
If you have any questions, please e-mail goldenislesteaparty@gmail.com

Georgia: We will be leaving on 9/11 from Brunswick at 6am. We are also able to pick people up in Savannah - but you can also book with the Savannah group that is going up. You can contact Elizabeth and find out more information information on the GA March on DC District 1 site. We have arranged parking near I-95 in Savannah.
Florida: We have spoken with our bus company, and because the bus will be originating in Jax, they have agreed to allow us to pick up passengers from Jax at no extra charge. If you will be joining us in Jax, FL, please put that in the comments section of the form. We will be leaving at 4:30am from Jax, and the pick-up location is close to the airport. If you are near Tallahassee, please call 850 926 9254 or email dolphinruntoo@gmail.com for details on an additional bus that has been added from Tallahassee.

Regulatory Czar
I've been hearing a few quotes from this czar, Cass Sunstein, that are very troubling. You can check out a .pdf of various quotes on different subjects here: Sunstein Quotes
There is a specific quote that I want to talk about:
I think that of course regulation would be an abridgement of the free speech guarantee, but the point that I think the discussion is missing is this - the actual wording of the First Amendment. In case your memory is a little rusty, the First Amendment says:
Did you catch that? It says that not only will the Congress not make laws to limit free speech, but also that they will not make laws to limit freedom of the press. If you legislate broadcasting, wouldn't that be limiting the freedom of the press? So, even if somehow you can make the case that regulation would not be limiting speech of the individual, regulation of broadcasting would still be in direct violation of the First Amendment.
There is a specific quote that I want to talk about:
"A legislative effort to regulate broadcasting in the interest of democratic principles should not be seen as an abridgment of the free speech guarantee."
--Cass R. Sunstein, Democracy and the Problem of Free Speech, The Free Press, 1995, p. 92 (a search will show this in google books)
I think that of course regulation would be an abridgement of the free speech guarantee, but the point that I think the discussion is missing is this - the actual wording of the First Amendment. In case your memory is a little rusty, the First Amendment says:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
