Accepting more reservations for DC

You will need to register with the hotel directly and then register with us for your bus fare. Please be advised that you if book your rooms in a hotel other than the Renaissance (on 9th St) or the Marriott Wardman Park, you may have to take the Metro to your hotel from Union Square Station as that is where the bus is parking. Those are the only 2 hotels on our approved itenerary from the bus company at this time, and we are trying to make the trip as easy as possible for all involved. After some research, I have found that f you are interested in flying, you can get a very good rate that is close to the cost of the bus (possibly even better.) I have not really paid a lot of attention to this in the past as most of the people I was talking to wanted to go as part of a group - but now I have had several people who would like to stay in separate hotels, etc... so I am putting this info out there for anyone who would like to fly. Check out this link http://guest.cvent.com/EVENTS/Info/Custom.aspx?cid=20&e=5ba072d3-891d-494d-9cfa-3b2c73399c53 for more info on how to save an additional 10% off of the lowest fares for AirTran.

Group Bus Trip Info

A special rate of $99 ($113 including taxes), for up to 4 people, has been negotiated with the Washington Marriott Wardman Park Hotel
Please click on the hotel name to make your reservations - please be sure that you reserve both Sept 11 and Sept 12th.
For the most recent hotel information, please check the newest posts.

Then, please register for your bus trip here: Bus Registration and send your check for $175 per person to the Golden Isles TEA Party Patriots, PO Box 20412, St. Simons Is., GA 31522.

We will be leaving on 9/11 from Brunswick at 6am. We have spoken with our bus company, and because the bus will be originating in Jax, they have agreed to allow us to pick up passengers from Jax at no extra charge. If you will be joining us in Jax, FL, please put that in the comments section of the form. We will let you know the exact time of departure as it is finalized (probably around 4:30am.) The pick-up location is likely to be somewhere on the north side of the city close to I-95 so that the bus doesn't have to go out of the way on it's way to Brunswick.

We are also able to pick people up in Savannah - but you can also book with the Savannah group that is going up. You can contact Elizabeth and find out more information information on the GA March on DC District 1 site. We have arranged parking near I-95 in Savannah, but only for a few cars. If we have more than that, we'll have to find a new place. If you are in Savannah, please note that on the form so we can keep you updated on the Savannah updates.

We will e-mail finalized parking spot information after we have received your fare as we do not want to publicize this information.

For traveling around while in DC, we will be making use of the Metro System. Once the buses are parked at Union Square, they will not be going out again until it is time to pick-up the passengers to leave DC on Sunday at 10am. The Renaissance will probably be the last stop before heading out of DC, so if you are at the Wardman Park, it will be a little earlier.

Healthcare Rally for Aug 26th

We will be having a health care rally on Aug 26th in front of Rep. Jack Kingston's office. His office is in the downtown Brunswick Post Office Building. The rally will be held from noon - 1pm. Please bring your respectful signs - either regarding health care or thanking Jack for his fight against socialized medicine. If you have any questions, please e-mail goldenislesteaparty@gmail.com

The Renaissance is Full

The hotel we are staying at is completely full, so our travel coordinator is working on getting a nearby hotel that we can send people to so that we can continue to add people to our bus. If you would like to be notified of the new hotel when it becomes available, please register here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?hl=en&formkey=dHBrNzZ4MXJ6ckdIdXowMkFzelVhYkE6MA..
We will e-mail you if a hotel becomes available at a discounted block rate. If you sign up, please check your e-mail at least daily, because it is likely that the hotels will fill up quickly once they are released.

Bus Trip Progress

Well, the Golden Isles has almost a full bus! We still have a few more checks to get in from people that have registered, but we are looking good...but, here's the GREAT news - all we need is about 10 more people, and we'll be able to add a second bus. Can you imagine if the Golden Isles is able to send 2 buses to DC?!? If you are still interested in attending, please check out this post for Trip Information and Registration.

Here is a link to a flyer that we are using to advertise the Bus trip and the March. If you are able to print some out and hand them out to your friends and neighbors and the places where you do business - that would help us a great deal! We have been handing them out at local businesses, and I have had nothing but good responses. Not everyone can hang the sign, but they can tell their friends about the march.

Thanks to everyone for helping to spread the word.

Pictures from recent events

Hi, Guys!

I've got the pics from the Fourth and the Seventeeth over on Facebook. I think if you follow this link you should be able to see them. If not, you need to open a Facebook account, but it would probably be worth it.... Hope you enjoy them!

Some More Specifics for the bus trip

Everything is not set in stone yet, but the trip is looking good!

The hotel that we would be staying in in the Renaissance in DC, and we would be 5 blocks from the start of the march. A pretty good location! Look around the site to look at the pictures and what they have available, but don't book through the hotel. The only way to get the deal is through the event planner that we've been working with. The quoted rate is $99 a night, but an extra $10 has been added to each room per night so help cover the cost of the meeting rooms that will be available to us for making our signs, meeting others, etc... Another cool thing about this hotel is that this is where most of the GA Tea Party Patriots will be staying. So, you know that we will be in a hotel full of like minded people who will help each other out. The total cost for the room which includes the taxes is $125 per room/ per night. You can put up to 4 in a room, so if you have a 3 or 4 person party, you will be able to save a little over our quoted per person prices.

The bus trip looks like it will be $175 per person for the trip. I am not clear on all the particulars yet, but I believe that this will cover 2 drivers, the driver's tip, the driver's hotel room, and all parking and toll fees. (Also we have to buy the driver a Metro Card for $7.50 so he can get back and forth to the bus.) We are also talking to Savannah about meeting up and having a convoy.

Please remember that you don't need a travel partner for the trip. If you are traveling alone, you may either rent a room for your own use ($125 per night = $250) or you can share a room with another single. We have plenty of people who are traveling alone, so don't feel like that would be any kind of problem.

So, now the Question you are probably asking is "What should I do if I want to go?" First, click on this link to register for the trip. Then, send your check to PO Box 20412, St. Simons Is., GA 31522 Please be sure to write WAshington Trip in the memo field. This must be done as soon as possible because we can't guarantee your space until the Fare has been received.

Here's how the pricing breaks down:
1 person in a room = $425 for trip
2 people in a room = $600 for trip OR $300 per person (we can link you with another single)
3 people in a room = $775 for trip OR $258.33 per person
4 people in a room = $950 for trip OR $237.50 per person

For those who want to use their own transportation, but would like to join us at the same hotel in Washington, you can also get the rate of $125 per room (incl taxes) per night. Just let me know that that is all you are registering for when you register (follow the link) and when you send in the check, put your name in the Memo field and that it is for hotel only.

Anyone who needs more information (or doesn't understand my babbling...) please send me an e-mail (Dawn Forbes) at goldenislesteaparty@gmail.com and I'll be glad to help you in any way that I can. You can also call William Temple at 577-9676 and he'll be able to help you as well.

Thank you everyone for your patience and I really feel like that patience is going to pay off - in a big way. This is a much better situation than even our earliest offers elsewhere because we're going to be spending time with our fellow patriots making signs have a party, etc... I don't know about you, but I am excited beyond belief at what this is shaping up to be!
